I just haven't felt like blogging lately but so much has been going on that I feel guilty for not keeping up. So here is some photos from the month of May. The kids have been busy.
The next few pictures are from SNORE weekend. This is a annual race that comes to Caliente. Within the matter of a few hours a city of RV's appears behing our house.
This is a picture is looking up to the starting line.
The dunebuggies and trucks and VW bugs make 3-4 laps. Each lap is about 70 miles so it takes all day.
They each have pit crews and stop to fuel up and change tires and take a break.
Here is a car coming down the hill behind the grocery store. It is way steeper than it seems and there is always the possibility for some excitement as they come down. Some bounce around off the road or even lose control. We set up some chairs behind the house and watch them come down all day.
Here is Abby in all her free stuff. The day before the race all the racers take there cars to the elementary school and let the kids sit in them and hand out all sorts of stuff and sign autographs. Her shirt is one she got and it is covered in autographs. Now it is one of her favorite shirts to sleep in.
Our house is on the other side of the red truck. I wanted to get a picture of there pit. If you can't tell from the pictures, this is a big deal!
After the race the girls were wondering around out back looking at the cars and stuff. It just so happened that the winner was right behind our house. They invited the girls over and gave them shirts and hotdogs and treats.
Then they got to sign the hood of the winning truck!
This is one of my favorite events here is Caliente. The population triples and it is just so fun watching the race. And lucky for us, we have front row seats!
Kaylee played on the minor league softball team. She did awsome! Here she is at bat. Next year we will work on getting on the base, but look at that swing!
We had an awesome month of May. I must admit that I am SOOOOO glad that it is over! There was so much running around and always something going on. And the weather was crazy! No spring for us this year. We went from freezing temps and snow to blazing hot.
Now just counting down until August.......
